With gas prices topping $4 a gallon, it’s no wonder Exxon is making record profits. But it seems that’s just not enough – they want tax breaks too.
In 2009, Exxon Mobil made $19 billion in profits. But Exxon not only paid no federal income taxes for that year, but actually received a $156 million rebate from the IRS. How’s that refund?
And here in Pennsylvania, where we’re laying off teachers, cutting bus routes and slashing services for seniors Exxon’s natural gas subsidiary, XTO Energy, pays no extraction tax on drilling in our Marcellus Shale.
Had enough? Let’s make big oil and gas pay their fair share.
